Filled with the mystery and spontaneous unities that only something truly alive can contain. It may be just a demo, but it's far from dashed off.

Wonderful to have on in the background while sitting editing. Drew's recent albums have really helped me remember why I like making music.
A “zero draft” is a messy, rough space where new things can emerge without fear of judgment.
During the creation of the “Shall We Go On Sinning So That Grace May Increase?” album, I asked Angel Deradoorian to sing variations on the phrase “Is it going to get any deeper than this?” for me. After the “Shall We Go On” album was completed, I found I kept returning to this part of her performance and trying to build music around the sound of her voice singing those words. Eventually, having made some basslines and keyboard riffs and drum patterns that seemed to interlock with Angel, I passed the patterns on to Úna Monaghan and asked her to play a harp solo for me. Imagining how it might sound with a fuller string arrangement, I also asked Ulaş Kurugüllü to adapt my patterns and multi-track himself playing violin, viola and cello along with what I had built out of Angel and Úna.
Bringing all of these elements together, stretching them out, and putting them in dub, the result is this “zero draft.” While you can definitely hear that this is a demo—there are imperfections, the piano sounds a bit distorted, sometimes things just simmer / hover in place—I thought that people who admire longform music might enjoy hearing something made simply for the pleasure of assemblage. In time, this “zero draft” became the seedbed for many of the songs that eventually sprouted on the “Is it Going To Get Any Deeper Than This?” double album on Thrill Jockey: some parts became “Trocadero”, some parts became elements in “Wanna Know”, etc.
This is the raw, first-thought-best-thought beginning of that project. I hope you enjoy it.

My god, what an absolutely incredible Suite. I'll admit, I've struggled to get into Pharoah Sanders due to diving headfirst into some of his most challenging catalogue and that never worked. This is the perfect place to restart. Floating Points is new for me and I can honestly say I've never heard synthesizer music this lush and organic before. the LSO is just perfect. This is one of those albums that any serious music fan needs in their life. The perfect swan song for the great Pharaoh! 5/5 ClassyMusicSnob

a masterpiece in the rough. somehow manages to bring countless fragments of sound, in all of their singular eclecticism, down to the most unexpected yet consistently flooring longform body of music i've experienced since autechre's nts sessions. the ultimate collaboration project to end all solitudes. avery
